Setting Up Shop

Ben Buie | 2/17/15

Today is my first day looking for work. I spent a couple days working on, updating my social profiles, and getting some loose ends tied up.

This morning my first order of business was to drop into a co-working space in Lafayette. I ended up running into a couple front-end developers like myself. I told them I was trying to figure out the best way to find work and one of them immediately offered to connect me with his friend who constantly sends him work. I love this area! People are so willing to help total strangers.

On the roller coaster of entrepreneurship, this is a good day so far. :)

I do have a strategy to get more work, but I’d love help, particularly at first. If you know of anyone needing development work or these skills, let me know.

About the Author

Ben currently works as a contract web developer and business consultant in Boulder, Colorado.

His passion for entrepreneurship led him to study business and learn to code. Although he never anticipated working on the web, Ben has spent the past 9 years learning everything he could about building and operating websites and web assets.

When not at work, Ben spends a lot of his time with family. He is married to a “beautiful” woman and they are raising 4 energetic boys. In his spare time he loves keeping up with technology, playing guitar, eating Sweet Cow ice cream, and painting (although he has very little time for painting these days).
