Ben currently works as a contract web developer and business consultant in Boulder, Colorado.
His passion for entrepreneurship led him to study business and learn to code. Although he never anticipated working on the web, Ben has spent the past 9 years learning everything he could about building and operating websites and web assets.
When not at work, Ben spends a lot of his time with family. He is married to a “beautiful” woman and they are raising 4 energetic boys. In his spare time he loves keeping up with technology, playing guitar, eating Sweet Cow ice cream, and painting (although he has very little time for painting these days). Other than that, Ben is a supporter of freedom and liberty, a fluent speaker of Russian, and he tries to be a humble follower of Jesus.

Ben has an extensive background in web development. After starting MyNiceTie in 2006, he taught himself to code by building a website to reach new customers. Over the years he has continued to learn while building many other websites for clients and his own startups. In 2013, he started at VOLTAGE as a Senior Front-end Developer and built websites and web assets for some amazing companies like Reebok, Sherwin Williams, Brunton, Winter Park, and others. In early 2015, Ben left voltage to work as a contract web developer and has continued to hone his JavaScript skills with several complex sites using Angular, Responsive Development, D3, Google Charts, WordPress, Shopify, and other tools.
An entrepreneur from childhood, Ben has always been passionate about finding opportunities that produce value. This passion led him to study entrepreneurship at BYU where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. After two years building business systems for Payless Shoesorce, he went on to get an MBA from CU-Boulder where he again focused on entrepreneurship. Recently, as Managing Director of VOLTAGE, Ben implemented a business system that helped the company achieve 30% profitability.
To-date, he has founded or co-founded 4 companies, the most notable being MyNiceTie, the most watched necktie channel on YouTube with over 32 million views, and Spark Boulder, the first space for student startups at CU.
